TiviMate Catch-Up Not Working With an M3U Playlist? Troubleshooting Guide

If catch-up or archive is greyed out or missing in TiviMate when you load a plain M3U playlist, that is usually expected rather than a fault. TiviMate catch-up rides on data the playlist has to carry — normally an Xtream Codes login, or catch-up tags written into the M3U — and a bare M3U link often has none, so there is nothing for TiviMate to rewind. Switching to the Xtream login for the same account usually brings catch-up back.

Most likely causes

  • The playlist was added as a plain M3U with no catch-up (archive) data, so TiviMate has nothing to replay
  • The account or plan does not include catch-up on those particular channels
  • The M3U is missing the catchup and catchup-days tags TiviMate reads to know an archive exists
  • The EPG is missing or stale, and catch-up is chosen from the guide, so without a guide there is nothing to click
  • The device time zone is wrong, so the catch-up window lines up with the wrong hours

Fixes, in the order to try them

  1. Re-add the playlist as Xtream Codes. This is the main fix. Remove the M3U and add the account again with Add playlist, Enter URL, using the Xtream server address, username and password from your activation message. The Xtream login exposes the catch-up archive that a plain M3U usually leaves out.

  2. Confirm your plan includes catch-up. Catch-up is only available on channels the provider records. If some channels rewind and others do not, that is normal; ask support which channels carry catch-up on your plan.

  3. Make sure the EPG is loaded. Catch-up is selected from a past programme in the guide, so a working EPG is required. If the guide is blank, fix that first by adding the EPG URL, refreshing it and giving it time to download.

  4. Check the time zone. Set the device date, time and time zone to automatic and correct, so the catch-up window matches when programmes actually aired rather than being shifted by hours.

  5. If you must keep an M3U, confirm it carries catch-up tags. Some providers add catchup and catchup-days attributes to the M3U so players know an archive exists. If yours does not, only the Xtream login will show catch-up in TiviMate.

  6. Reload after changing the source. Once you switch to Xtream or update the playlist, reload it from Settings, Playlists, Reload, and reopen the guide so the catch-up markers appear on past programmes.

TiviMate catch-up not working (M3U) FAQ

Why is catch-up not working in TiviMate with an M3U?

A plain M3U usually carries no catch-up data, so TiviMate has no archive to replay. Catch-up generally needs an Xtream Codes login, or catch-up tags inside the M3U. Re-adding the account as Xtream normally restores it.

Does TiviMate catch-up need Xtream Codes?

In most cases yes, or an M3U that includes catchup tags. The Xtream login is the reliable route because it exposes the archive and the guide together, which is what catch-up relies on.

How do I switch from M3U to Xtream in TiviMate?

Remove the M3U playlist, then choose Add playlist, Enter URL, and enter the Xtream server address, username and password for the same account. Reload it and the catch-up markers appear on past programmes in the guide.

Why can I catch up on some channels but not others?

Catch-up is only recorded on the channels your provider archives, so it is normal for some to rewind and others not. Check which channels include catch-up on your plan.
